COS and API have worked together to create training courses to help industry personnel better understand API RP 75, the basis of COS work and pivotal document for improving offshore safety. These two courses are available online and on-demand to be experienced on the participant's schedule. 

API RP 75: Fundamentals of the 4th Edition, Safety and Environmental Management System (SEMS)

This foundational module is the first in a training series on API Recommended Practice (RP) 75, 4th Edition: Safety and Environmental Management System (SEMS) for Offshore Operations and Assets. Designed for professionals committed to operational safety and environmental stewardship, this course introduces the principles, structure, and evolution of SEMS.

Participants will explore the historical context that led to the development of RP 75, understand its expanded scope and application, and examine the core principles and 13 elements that form the backbone of an effective SEMS. Planning a SEMS Audit: Guidance from RP 75, 4th Edition

This self-paced module is the second in a training series on API Recommended Practice (RP) 75, 4th Edition: Safety and Environmental Management System (SEMS) for Offshore Operations and Assets. It focuses on preparing to conduct a SEMS audit, using guidance from the Center for Offshore Safety’s COS-1-06/RP 75 4th Edition Audit Plan (First Edition, August 2023).

Participants will gain a foundational understanding of SEMS principles and learn to distinguish between compliance audits and management system audits. The course emphasizes best practices in audit planning and introduces tools and strategies to support effective SEMS evaluations.
